Brenda Morrison returned to Vancouver in 2006 to work at the Centre for Restorative Justice at Simon Fraser University, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in restorative justice and continues her research. While Brenda was born and attended school on the North Shore, she has traveled, studied and worked abroad for about 20 years. During this time, she completed a PhD in social psychology at the Australian National University and worked for the Center for Restorative Justice at the same university. She has a particular interest in restorative justice and school violence, and has written the first international review of restorative justice in schools for the Handbook of Restorative Justice. In Australia she worked on the development of the National Safe School Framework. Internationally, she is on the scientific committee of the International Observatory of Violence in Schools. For three years, she worked on secondment to the University of Pennsylvania, working on research and development projects at the intersection of courts and schools in Philadelphia. Brenda is happily settling into life on the North Shore again with her husband Damien and two children, Hamish and Anna.
