Position: Full-time RRP Program Coordinator (35 hours/week)

Restorative Response Program
Reports to: Program Manager

The Program and Role: NSRJ’s Restorative Response Program (RRP) provides a community-centered court diversion process on the North Shore that was established in 1997. RRP provides a victim-centered process that aims to heal the harm (physical, sexual, emotional, financial) from crime or conflict, addressing root causes, and providing the offender an opportunity to realize the impact of their actions, make amends, and thereby reduce recidivism and prevent future harms. The RRP coordinator will work with other RRP staff and our volunteer co-facilitators to oversee and facilitate file screening and acceptance, then their resolution or de-escalation, and subsequently their proper closure.


Primary Responsibilities:
• Administering files diverted to NSRJ from the West Vancouver Police Department and the North Vancouver Detachment of the RCMP. This includes scheduling appointments, communicating with officers and clients, andreporting and filing (40% of work);
• Leading the facilitation of restorative victim-offender mediations and conferences while working with and mentoring volunteers who co-facilitate (40% of work); and,
• Assisting in the planning and implementation of educational workshops and community building activities, including our First Nations communities, as well as educating and encouraging police officers, coordinating legal research projects and ensuring strong engagement with volunteers (20% of work).

Qualifications:
• Education and experience facilitating restorative justice victim-offender mediations
• Education and experience in social justice including Indigenous perspectives and First Nations issues
• Self-awareness and ability to acknowledge one’s biases, prejudices and triggers
• Excellent listener, intuitive, collaborative in approach and flexible
• Integrity and independence


Terms: Salary $25-28 per hour commensurate with qualifications and experience
Other: Benefits after 3 months
Yearly: 10 paid sick days + 3 paid flex days, $100 self-care, $300 towards professional development
